EMail DB for incorrect bounce handling at Amazon's SES

At Daymon Interactions, we are sending out e-mails to clients via the Amazon Simple Email Service (SES) which handles bounces for us. Unfortunately, the way it is done leaves so much to be desired so that we decided to place our own db in between in order to determine which e-mail bounced, the type of bounce, how many re-tries etc. Amazon decided to send a "Delivered" notice for every sent e-mail unless they have already a permanent bounce record in their system. Later on, that "Delivered" status might get changed to a bounce requiring us to handle it.
